The Full Story
My name is Moses Gibson, and my journey of faith and growth began long before I was born. I come from a line of spiritual leaders — my great-grandfather and grandfather were both pastors, men whose devotion to God planted the first seeds of faith within me.
At just two years old, my life was dedicated to the Lord. But like many, my path was not straight.
A Season of Doubt
As a preteen, I wrestled with questions about God and purpose. Around 11 or 12, I began to doubt — yet my mother, in her wisdom, gave me the freedom to explore while keeping me rooted in church.
High school was challenging. Academically, I underperformed, and though I made the varsity basketball team my junior year, I still didn’t find my footing. Inside, I was searching for something more.
Losing My Way
After graduation, I tried college, relationships, and carving out life on my own. But nothing seemed to stick. I lost my apartment, drifted into instability, and began experimenting with drugs.
Then came the spring of 2016.
Driving in the rain, my car hydroplaned and crashed into a semi-truck. I walked away unharmed. And in that moment of silence, I heard the voice of the Lord:
“Do you trust Me?”
I whispered, “Yes.”
That moment saved my life. It marked the beginning of my awakening.
The Breaking Point
But awakening doesn’t mean instant transformation. Not long after, I spiraled further — so much so that I ended up in a mental hospital after trying to fly to California with no money.
And yet, in that stillness, something shifted.
I began dreaming again — about life, purpose, and building something meaningful.
Turning Back to God
After being released, I stayed with my mother, writing raps and wrestling with my habits. Eventually, I moved in with an ex-girlfriend, driving a borrowed 2016 Impala — the nicest car I’d ever had.
Life was still unstable, but the Spirit was stirring.
In June 2016, I was baptized.
For the first time, I made a true commitment to God.
Days later, I was kicked out again — but this time, I didn’t crumble.
Instead, I turned fully to Jesus. I felt His Spirit moving within me.
That moment changed everything.
Finding My Voice
Soon after, my mentor opened They Haven Studios and took me in as his first mentee. There, I learned the craft of recording, producing, and engineering rap music — my childhood dream finally taking form.
I began performing at open mics like Young Chicago Authors, sharpening my skills and finding my voice. Music became my tool to speak truth, heal wounds, and carry testimony.
Grace and Transformation
Before Christ, I lived small — trapped in cycles of poor choices, anger, and insecurity.
But Jesus gave me clarity, peace, and purpose.
He didn’t just clean up my past — He gave me vision for my future.
I learned to walk by faith, to lead without compromise, and to anchor my life in obedience and wisdom.
Living the Calling
Today, I’m living my calling.
Making music.
Teaching youth.
Traveling the world.
Sharing truth.
Most importantly, I am staying aligned with the One who brought me out.
The Invitation
This is my story — a journey of wandering and returning, of falling and rising, of grace and transformation.
I pray it inspires yours.
Because if He did it for me,
He can do it for you.
